Smart plugs offer a quick introduction to home automation and turn your home into a smart home with little effort. With a smart plug, you can integrate all your electronic devices into your Smart Home. When buying such an smart plug you have to choose between WLAN, Bluetooth or DECT models. In this guide we show you what you have to consider when making your purchase and whether the individual plugs are compatible with each other and with your Smart Home System, i.e. with Alexa or Google Home. In this article we introduce the best smart plugs for Google Home and Alexa.

However, the absolute winner among them is the TP-Link HS110*. This plug has the best price-performance ratio with very good compatibility, integration, operation and expandability to the most common Smart Home systems.

Quality Features of Good Smart Plugs

Smart plugs that can be controlled remotely connect to a mobile device via WLAN or radio (such as ZigBee or DECT ULE). You can then use the app on your smartphone or tablet to control your wireless smart plug. With many devices there is also the possibility of voice control via Alexa or Google Home.

As already mentioned at the beginning, the ingenious thing about such smart plugs is that almost all electrical appliances can be integrated into the Smart Home. So you can automate everything that has a plug, for example your garden lighting, your air conditioning or even the coffee machine or the kettle.

This not only offers a high level of comfort, but also saves energy if you only switch on the devices when you need them and can also display them again from anywhere.

Smart Plugs can switch your devices on and of via smartphone or voice command.

When buying a smart plug, you should pay attention to a few features so you don’t have to send it back or exchange it. As with almost everything else, the cheapest choice is usually not the best choice, but the most expensive alternative is not either. To help you with your choice, here are the most important quality features that you should consider when buying:

  • Compatibility: For you to be able to integrate a smart plug into your Smart Home, it should be compatible with your system – for example with Alexa or Google Home. Because it is only through voice control that the use of a smart plug really becomes practical and convenient. Although all smart plugs can also be controlled via app, I find that a smart plug can only really develop its potential if it can be controlled via voice command. Our favourite, the TP-Link HS110 smart plug is compatible with all common voice assistants.
  • Features: In addition to compatibility with Alexa or Google Home, there are also other features such as a consumption indicator or the programming of automatic power on and off. Particularly, inexpensive devices can usually only be operated via app. Our favourite, the TP-Link HS110 smart plug offers all the functions you would expect from a smart plug at a very fair price.
  • Extra basic unit: There are certain systems in which radio plugs only work in conjunction with a basic unit. We find that such systems are too inflexible and that they bind you too much to one system.
  • Electricity: If you want to equip powerful devices such as an air conditioner or a refrigerator with a smart wireless plug, you have to pay attention to the maximum load. Unfortunately, cheap smart plugs often only offer a low maximum load, which is not sufficient for such devices and can become dangerous. Good smart plugs, on the other hand, can withstand up to 16 A, which means that there is no more danger.
  • Design: Depending on where you want to use the wireless plug, it may or may not be visible. Most smart plugs have a very simple and elegant design and often come in the color white. This simple design fits into almost any room. The times when smart plugs were huge, bulky devices are fortunately over.
  • Price: Smart plugs are generally quite cheap. So you should give priority to the features and the other quality criteria listed here. Cheap smart plugs often don’t have compatibility with Alexa or Google Home or a low maximum load, making them a security risk. Our favourite, the TP-Link HS110 smart plug, is in the upper midfield in terms of price and, with its range of functions, is competes well with even the most expensive devices.

Number 1: TP-Link HS110 Smart Plug

Of all the smart plugs presented here, the TP-Link HS110 smart plug* convinced us the most. The huge range of functions and the easy integration into a smart home result in the best price-performance ratio.

Even if you don’t have a smart home system like Alexa or Google Home, this smart plug can be easily controlled via the associated Kasa App. TP-Link also offers other smart home products such as smart lamps that can be controlled via the same app.

Here are all the features that made us choose this smart plug as the best:

  • Alexa and Google Assistant: If you want to control your electronic devices with this smart plug not only via the smartphone but also via voice command, you can also connect them to Alexa or the Google Assistant. In my opinion, this is one of the most important functions of a smart plug. This allows you to make all your older devices smart and turn your home into a true smart home without having to replace them with new, expensive smart devices.
  • Creation of schedules: You can program this smart plug so that it is only switched on and off at certain times. With this function you can not only save a lot of energy, but also pretend that you are at home even though you are on holiday. Strangers think you’re home because the lights go on and off.
  • Easy installation and operation: Due to the associated Kasa App and the easy integration into Alexa or Google Home, the installation of the TP-Link HS110 almost borders on plug-and-play. Once you have connected the plug to a voice assistant like Alexa, using voice commands is child’s play. If you’re already lying on the couch and want to turn off the living room light, you don’t have to get up and do it instead by voice. Of course, the smart plug can also be manually switched on and off via a switch directly at the plug.
  • High maximum load: With a maximum power of 16 A, you can also connect powerful devices such as air conditioning or a gaming PC to the HS110.
  • Energy consumption indicator: A smart plug is a kind of adapter for simultaneously supplying an electrical device with power and making it smart. This means that there is an interface between the electrical device and the power line through which the consumption can theoretically be measured. This is also practically possible with the HS110. This allows you to track the energy consumption in the Kasa App. This also allows savings potential to be identified. In addition, this smart plug can also summarise your weekly or monthly power consumption, giving you a quick overview of your power consumption. If this feature is not important to you, the HS100 smart plug is better suited for you, as it is considerably cheaper than the HS110 and offers the same functions otherwise.

Tough Competition: Etekcity Smart Plug

Just behind the TP-Link HS110, the still quite unknown, smart plug from Etekcity* takes second place. This smart plug convinces with an excellent compatibility with Alexa and Google Home, a very good price and many smart features such as energy consumption monitoring.

All important features of this smart plug are listed here:

  • Compact design: If you still remember the beginnings of smart plugs, you still know the huge, unpractical blocks. However, the Etekcity smart plug is extremely small. But, it is not so small that several of them can be plugged directly next to each other into a connector strip. A smart plug that can do this is the Belkin WeMo Mini Smart Plug. Nevertheless, the quality of its housing in this price segment is more than satisfactory!
  • Easy installation: The Etekcity smart plug does not require a base unit. You can connect it to the Smart Home via WLAN. The associated VeSync app can be used to control the plug with your smartphone. The app explains the installation step by step and is very easy to understand.
  • Remote control via app: The VeSync app is very intuitive. You can also use it to set different schedules and even countdowns. An ingenious feature is the automatic switching on and off which is based on the local time of sunrise and sunset.
  • Energy monitoring: Despite the very fair price, the Etekcity smart plug has the function of recording energy consumption data of your connected devices. This allows you to monitor the consumption of your electrical appliances and identify potential savings. There is even a feature that allows you to automatically switch off electrical devices when they exceed a certain power level.
  • Compatibility with Alexa and Google Home: The Etekcity smart plug is also compatible with Alexa and the Google Assistant. This allows it to be operated by voice command. To connect the smart plug to Alexa or Google Home, just add the VeSync skill to the respective systems app.

With Amazons Seal of Approval: AISIRER Smart Plug

Amazon awards the Amazon Choice Seal to top-rated, affordable and instantly available products. The AISIRER smart plug* has earned this seal!

It has all the features you could want from a smart plug at the moment and is very easy to install. A very important point for me is also that it is compatible with not only with one smart home system, but with Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT (IF This Then That). So you have the choice and are always flexible. In addition, you don’t need a base station or any other device to integrate this smart plug into your Smart Home.

The most important functions of the AISIRER smart plug are listed below:

  • Easy installation: Even if you have little experience with Smart Home products and have difficulties with electronics in general, it is very easy to set up this smart plug. All you need to do is download the eFamilyCloud app and plug it in and add it as a new device in the app. Then press the Power button for more than 5 seconds until the light starts flashing quickly. Then you can control them directly from the app.
  • Alexa and Google Home: To activate the AISIRER smart plug in Alexa and Google Assistant, you just have to add the skill or device in the respective app and give it a meaningful name. Then you can control it by voice command and say for example “Alexa, turn on the living room fan!”.
  • Individual schedules and countdown function: Individual schedules allow you to automatically switch on and off your electronic devices connected to this plug at specific times. I use the function mainly for my atmospheric lighting in the living room and for the light in front of the door. In addition, this smart plug has a countdown function with which electronic devices can be automatically switched off after a defined time. So you only have to switch on your devices and don’t have to worry about them running the whole night.
  • IFTTT (IF This Then That): With IFTTT you can let your smart devices react to certain events. The full potential unfolds when several devices are coupled together. For example, you could set the light in the living room to change and the sound system to turn on when you turn on the TV. Then you don’t need every single switch or several voice commands at once, everything happens automatically. The possibilities with IFTTT are practically unlimited. You can also turn on the lights when you come home, or turn on the air conditioning when a certain temperature is reached.
  • Surge protection: Overvoltage protection is extremely useful for high-performance electronic devices. This prevents burn-through or short circuits.
  • Robust, minimalist design: The AISIRER smart plug is basically a small white box that has it all. The simple design is hardly noticeable and therefore fits in almost every home. In addition, the housing is made of high quality material and is fire resistant.

Super Smart: Belkin WeMo Insight Smart Plug

The Belkin WeMo Insight smart plug* is slightly more expensive but all the more smart than most other smart plugs. It is compatible with most smart home systems and represents a very risk-free entry into the networking of electronic devices.

It is the next evolutionary step of its still a bit clumsy predecessor and has got a slimmer design and more features.

Here are the best qualities of the Belkin WeMo Insight smart plug:

  • Monitoring energy consumption: With the Belkin WeMo Insight, you can view the power cost of any device connected to it. This way you can identify power guzzlers or reduce your electricity costs by changing your behaviour. Often you don’t even know which device consumes the most power. With such a smart plug, you always know exactly what’s going on. You can see in real time just how much is consumed or look up average consumption data. You can also set the app to turn off a particular electronic device when it exceeds a certain threshold. If you want to know exactly what your electronic devices cost, you can also export the data and analyze then with Excel or the like.
  • Event control: You can set the power plug to send a message to your smartphone when a particular device is turned on or off. With a connected WeMo motion detector you can also switch on devices when the motion detector has been triggered. In addition, the plug can also switch appliances on and off when the sun rises or sets.
  • IFTTT compatibility: With IFTTT many smart conditions can be created when the plug automatically switches itself on or off. For example, you could reduce the children’s game console usage to a certain amount of time or turn on the air conditioning automatically when you get home. You can also use IFTTT to set a device to turn itself off after a certain time or consumption and even send you a message.
  • Alexa and Google Home: Of course, the Belkin WeMo Insight can also be connected to Alexa or Google Home. So you can control your electrical devices via this smart plug by voice command.

Amysen Smart Plug with Surge Protection

Amazon awarded this smart plug from Amysen* not without reason the Amazon Choice seal. This seal is only available for top-rated and inexpensive products that are available for immediate delivery.

The Amysen smart plug can be operated via a smartphone app or with the Google Assistant or Alexa. You can also operate and individually adjust them without a language assistant.

It is also very exemplary that Amysen has provided this plug with overload protection, which is no standard for such small models.

Here is a list of all the functions and special features of the Amysen smart plug:

  • Overvoltage protection and overheating protection: With these two safety features, you don’t have to worry when connecting very powerful devices to this plug. This prevents a device from burning out or causing a short circuit.
  • Energy consumption display: This function coupled with the overvoltage protection and the low price makes this smart plug particularly interesting. In most cases, only premium models are equipped with an energy consumption indicator. With this display, the energy consumption of all connected electronic devices can be determined via the app. This allows you to identify your biggest power guzzlers and optimize your costs.
  • Easy installation: A 2.4 GHz WLAN is required for installation. To integrate the Amysen smart plug into your Smart Home, the first step is to plug it into a free socket. Press the button on the top until the light flashes quickly. You can now add the plug using the Smart Life App. It is recommended to name the smart plug directly so that you know which plug belongs to which device later. This is also very handy if you want to address them via Alexa or the Google Assistant. Then you can say to Alexa, for example: “Alexa, turn off the TV!”.
  • Timer & schedules: With the Amysen smart plug you can create individual schedules and use a timer function. A schedule allows you to run a particular device only at adjustable times. With the timer function you can automatically turn off a device after a certain time after it has been switched on. This can also be set individually and manually. This function is especially valuable for people who fall asleep in front of their tv…
  • Alexa and Google Assistant: Like many other modern smart plugs, you can connect this one to Amazon Alexa and Google Home. To connect the smart plug to Alexa, you have to activate the skill Smart Life in the Alexa App. Then you can let Alexa search for new devices. The smart plug should now be displayed and can then be controlled directly by voice command via Alexa. To connect the smart plug to Google Assistant, proceed as followed: Open the Google Home App and add the wireless plug as a new device. The smart plug can then be reached via the assigned name using the Google Assistant.

Smart Power Strip with Surge Protection from Meross

More and more I find myself needing a power strip to connect my various electronic devices in my house. The problem with a normal power strip and individual smart plugs is, that most smart plugs are too big to plug into a power strip side by side.

The solution is an smart power strip which also offers surge protection. The smart power strip with overvoltage protection from Meross* was the perfect solution for me.

The price is great, the reviews are mostly positive and it offers all the features I want from a smart power strip.

The best features are listed here:

  • Integrated USB ports: The USB ports built into the power strip make it easy to connect mobile devices such as smartphones or cameras. Just like the three power sockets, you can also control the USB ports. This feature is quite unique.
  • Easy to install: To install this smart power strip, download and install the Meross App. After that you only have to plug it into a socket and follow the instructions in the app. Once you’ve installed it, you can plug it into any socket and connect it via WLAN. The complete installation takes less than 5 minutes.
  • Compatibility with Alexa and Google Home: You can connect the power strip to Alexa and Google Home. In Alexa, simply add the Meross skill to the Alexa app and follow the instructions to log in. Then you just ask Alexa if she recognizes new devices. The power strip is then displayed. Of course you can also change the name of the plug. It’s similarly easy with Google Home. To connect the Meross power strip, simply add it as a new device in the Google Home App.
  • Robust materials: The housing of the power strip is fireproof and can withstand temperatures of up to 750 °C! The plug can be used in a wide variety of applications. The power cable is very stable and strongly insulated. The Meross power strip has a really high-quality finish and will last for a very long time.
  • Individual schedules: What would a smart plug be without adjustable schedules? In addition to adjustable times when it switches devices on and off, there is also a countdown function. Due to the compatibility with Alexa or Google Home you can overwrite these functions by voice command if you want to have the light on a bit longer.
  • Overvoltage protection: This power strip has a overvoltage protection that protects against excessive currents, short circuits and high temperatures. This feature ensures that none of your connected devices will burn out.

Proven Quality: D-Link DSP-W110

D-Link has long been known for outstanding network products. For some time now, D-Link has also been launching Smart Home products on the market. And these also have an excellent quality.

With the D-Link DSP-W110 smart plug*, there is now also a fairly inexpensive alternative from D-Link for integrating electrical devices into a Smart Home. This smart plug can power almost everything that the premium plugs in this sector can also do.

The only thing it can’t do is monitor energy consumption. But if this feature is not important to you, the DSP-W110 is a very good choice.

The most important key features of this smart plug are listed here:

  • Easy installation: To install the DSP-W110 you have to download and install the myDLink App. You can now simply add the smart plug in the device manager. The app asks you for a QR code, which you can find on the back of the plug. After you have scanned the QR code, all you have to do is follow the instructions in the app and you are ready to go. The final step is to name the smart plug and tell the app where it is located in your home.
  • Alexa and Google Home: This smart plug is also compatible with Alexa and Google Home. To integrate them, you just have to activate the D-Link skill in the respective Alexa or Google App. So you can operate your electrical devices by voice command. Especially here it makes sense to give the individual plugs names, such as PC, air conditioning or reading lamp.
  • Individual schedules: With this smart plug, you can automatically turn your electronic devices on and off at specific times. Would you like some fresh coffee in the morning during the week? No problem – connect your coffee machine to this smart plug and set the time you get up to automatically turn on the coffee machine in the morning.
  • Expandable with motion detector, camera & Co: The DSP-W110 smart plug from D-Link is compatible with the other Smart Home products from D-Link. For example, you can connect the plug to motion detectors, water sensors, or a D-Link HD camera. So you can control different events. The plug could automatically turn on the lights when you come home or turn on the security camera in front of the door when a movement is detected.
  • IFTTT: This smart plug from D-Link also supports IFTTT. With IFTTT (IF This Then That) you can let several Smart Home devices interact with each other. This enables an infinite number of individual event controls. For example, you can automatically turn off everything else when the TV is turned on, or adjust your outdoor lamp to the rhythm of the sun. The possibilities with IFTTT are endless – here you can be creative and make your home really smart.

Inexpensive: COOSA Smart Plug

Check Price:

When I first saw this COOSA smart plug*, I thought it was a bad, cheap product. You can get this plug from Amazon in a pack of 3 for the price of a single smart plug from another brand.

After looking at the customer reviews, which are mostly positive, I had to order a pack myself and see for myself. This smart plug is anything but a bad, cheap product.

It can do everything a high-quality, modern smart plug can do and that at a third of the usual price. It remains to be seen whether it will survive the long-term test in use, but so far everything has been without any objections. If you want to make your home smart at a reasonable price, you should try this smart plug.

Here is a list of all of its functions (of which there are many for the low price):

  • Alexa and Google Home: This smart plug can also be connected to Alexa and Google Home. All you have to do is activate the Smart Life skill in the app or add it as a device. For voice-controlled devices, it is always a good idea to give the device or plug a name so that you can talk to Alexa or the Google Assistant normally. The result could be the following command: “Alexa, turn on the fan in the kitchen.”
  • The Smart Life App: Even without Alexa or Google Home you can control the smart plug from a distance. As long as the plug is connected to the Internet via WLAN, you can control it with the app from anywhere in the world. This allows any number of smart plugs to be controlled simultaneously.
  • Flexible schedules and timing function: You can create your own schedules for each of your electronic devices with this COOSA smart plug. This means that devices can be switched on and off automatically at certain times. This saves a lot of energy and also avoids the wasteful standby mode of modern electrical appliances. This will quickly be noticed on the electricity bill and you will automatically increase the life of the switched off devices.
  • Easy installation: As with most other Smart Home devices, the installation of this smart plug is quite simple. All you have to do is download and install the Smart Life app. The instructions in the app are quite intuitive and it doesn’t take long until the smart plug is connected to your smartphone.
  • Surprisingly good workmanship: Even if the price is very low, COOSA offers high-quality materials and various safety and quality certificates such as RoHs (control of chemical products), CE (user safety) and WEEE (environmentally friendly).

The Original: Amazon Smart Plug

I know a lot of smart home enthusiasts who swear on Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa. Of course, Amazon also has a smart wireless plug, the Amazon Smart Plug*, which is guaranteed to be compatible with Alexa.

However, the Amazon Smart Plug has significant disadvantages compared to the TP-Link HS110. It cannot monitor energy consumption, has no absence mode and is not compatible with any language assistant other than Alexa.

So if you’re looking for a smart smart plug for Alexa, the TP Link HS100 (without power consumption monitoring) or the HS110 (with power consumption monitoring) are the best choices.

Nevertheless, the biggest strengths of the Amazon Smart Plug are listed here:

  • Extremely simple installation: Amazon advertises a frustration-free installation. This should make it very easy to connect smart devices to Alexa. And this also works excellently with the Amazon Smart Plug. You simply plug in the smart plug and ask Alexa to find new devices. And that’s what she’s doing! There’s no easier way… Plug it in, let Alexa know, done! To adjust further details, there is the Alexa App. With this app you can, for example, change the name of the plug.
  • Simple design: The Amazon Smart Plug has a very simple design. A small white adapter with one button and one LED. Due to this simple design it fits almost into every house.
  • Creation of schedules: With the Alexa App you can program and remote control the smart plug individually.
  • Voice control: Of course the Amazon Smart Plug can be controlled via Alexa by voice command. This is very handy if you want to save time or if you don’t have a free hand.

For Outdoors: Meross WLAN Outdoor Smart Plug

There are also smart plugs for outdoor use that can be connected to Alexa and Google Home. The Meross outdoor smart plug* can also be configured via IFTTT (IF This Then That).

This allows countless combination options to be set. The housing is completely waterproof with IP44. The only thing it can’t survive is the complete immersion in water. It survives rain or the sprinkler without any problems.

Here are the main features of this smart plug for outdoor use:

  • Weatherproof: The most important quality that an outdoor plug should have is that it is waterproof or weatherproof. This wireless plug is IP44 certified, which protects against rain and targeted water jets. Cold and snow are no problem either. This makes it ideal for laying on the terrace or in the garden.
  • Alexa and Google Assistant: With the respective app from Amazon or Google, the Meross outdoor smart plug can be very easily integrated into the Smart Home System. You can also turn your Christmas lights on and off outside with a voice command.
  • Sunset and sunrise function: With this function you can only run the electrical appliances in the garden when it is either day or night. For a fountain the day would be practical, for Christmas lights the night. In addition, this plug also offers a timer functions with which the electrical devices connected to it after a certain time are automatically turned off. I like to let my Christmas or Halloween lights only glow from sunset until midnight.
  • Remote control: By integrating this plug into the Smart Home system, you can switch your garden tools or lighting on and off from anywhere in the world with your smartphone. So you can either water the lawn in summer when you’re not even there or turn the lights on and off to fake your presence.

Smart Plugs Offer a Variety of Possible Applications

Smart plugs are an ingenious way to turn your home into a smart home. For example, although there are very good smart lighting systems such as the Philips Hue System*, older lamps can also be made smart with a smart plug and integrated into the smart home.

The principle is simple: You plug the old lamp, or any other electronic device, into a smart plug and switch on the lamp or device. The smart plug then switches it on and off by app or voice command.

Some models, such as our favourite, the TP-Link HS110 smart plug, have an absence mode. In this mode you can fake your presence. That way strangers think you’re at home, even though you may be thousands of miles away on the beach. I hear it again and again that burglars observe the house for a certain time before they break in. They think somebody’s home and they stay out of your home.

Another application is the control of standby devices. Nowadays, many electronic devices do not shut down completely and still consume some electricity. With a smart plug on this device, you can switch this standby device off completely from anywhere and by voice command to save unnecessary power consumption.

The Best Ways to Simplify Your Life with Smart Plugs

Most Smart Home products have an immediate, obvious benefit. Smart plugs need a little creativity to reach their full potential. It is, after all, only a plug…

But a smart power plug offers virtually endless possibilities to automate your home. They can make your life easier, save you time and money and even give you more security when you’re away from home.

Here are the best ways to get the full potential out of your smart plug.

Smart Plugs Increase Convenience and Save Time

  • Would you like tea or coffee in the morning? Control your kettle or coffee maker from your bed using your smartphone or your voice. Then you don’t have to get up until everything’s ready.
  • In addition to your alarm clock, you can also switch on the light automatically at a certain time via a smart plug. The combination of light and alarm clock is usually enough to wake you up.
  • If you want to control the humidity in your bedroom when you sleep, you can use a smart plug to turn on the humidifier at a specific time. So the air is already exactly as you want it to be when you go to bed.
  • With a smart outdoor plug, you can automatically turn on and off your holiday lights for Halloween or Christmas. So sometimes you can even synchronize them with the rhythm of the sun at sunrise and sunset.

Use Smart Plugs for Monitoring and Safety

  • With smart plugs you can fake your presence at home and prevent break-ins. You can either switch your lights on and off remotely from anywhere in the world or set the time windows in which the lights should be switched on and off. So a stranger who observes the house thinks that you are at home and does not get any stupid ideas.
  • Sometimes you forget to turn off a device before you leave the house. With a smart plug, you don’t have to drive home and turn it off manually. You can do this from anywhere!.

Saving Energy and Money with Smart Plugs

  • Air conditioners or heaters are sometimes not really energy efficient. You can, however, use a smart plug to control these power-guzzling devices. You can either turn it off automatically after a certain time or couple it with a temperature sensor or a motion detector and only let it run when it makes sense.
  • In addition to air conditioning and heaters, you can of course also control devices such as fans via a smart plug.
  • Many smart plugs now have the feature of energy monitoring or consumption monitoring. So you can see your power consumption in real time or as a report over several weeks or months. With this data you get a better overview about which devices in your house consume how much electricity. So you can filter out the devices that consume the most energy and rethink their usage.

Smart Plugs and Children

  • With younger children you have to take care that they don’t spend the whole day in front of the TV or a game console. With a smart plug, you can not only monitor how long they use these devices, you can also automatically turn them off after a certain time of use.
  • And with older children you might even want to limit Internet consumption. You can do this easily by plugging the router into a smart plug and turning off the Internet when the kids aren’t supposed to surf in it anymore.
  • If you want to avoid the risk of your child stumbling through the dark house to the bathroom at night, you can also connect your smart plug to a motion detector (for example with IFTTT). The light can then switch on when the motion detector signals a movement.

Bottom Line

With smart plugs, you can quickly and cheaply turn your home into a smart home.

There are now many high quality models on the market. Smart plugs have a lot to offer, from the possibility of viewing the energy consumption data of individual devices to an absence mode that simulates your presence when you are on holiday.

Our favourite among the smart plugs is the TP-Link HS110 smart plug*. With it you not only have the possibility to view the consumption data, it also has an excellent integration into an Alexa or Google Home System. This allows all connected electronic devices to be operated by voice commands.

There will certainly develop many more interesting possibilities over the years. It is therefore worth keeping up to date with this topic and testing the latest developments.

Now that you’ve read this article, you should have a very good overview of the range of smart plugs available for your Smart Home.
